Lara and Lisa Hélène Meiland: The founders
and designers, are sisters who are passionate about fashion-forward
and international design. Raised in Brussels, Copenhagen,
and New York City, the two sisters have a strong background
in fashion. As a result of their love of couture, they have
an inherent desire to make brides look elegant, beautiful
and unique on their wedding day by wearing a Lara Hélène
gown.
Lara and Lisa wanted to use their own names for the bridal
atelier, as the business is a deeply personal one. Lara
was an easy choice, as it evokes images of Russian romance
in Dr. Zhivago and is one of the founders' first names.
In contrast, Belgium-born Lisa has always preferred her
French middle name, Hélène, and its international
feel reflects that the sisters are influenced by their European
backgrounds. Thus, Lara Hélène was born.
