Because every mother is a superwoman, we've been getting to know Mums from all over New Zealand and Australia and the one thing we've learned is that no two journeys through motherhood are the same! Here is a serie of SuperMums who shared their story with us.

Meet Abbey, Mum of 4 living in Auckland, New Zealand and founder of "The Mums Clique"

About you

Hi there, I'm Abbey. I am a wife to Tay and a mother to four kids. Camilla is 8 going on 18, Lara & Soul are my 2.5year old twins and our littlest love Faith is 15 months.

We live on a lifestyle block in the Rodney District just North of Auckland. As well as looking after my kids, managing our lifestyle block and the animals (horse, chickens, cats, dog, goats) I am also the Founder and CEO of a not-for-profit Charity called “The Mums Clique

At The Mums Clique we are on a mission to support New Zealand Women through Motherhood. We strive to achieve this by providing an community, resources and a support network for Mothers New Zealand wide. As well as hosting an array of educational and social events, and empowering mothers by informing them and bringing them together.
Motherhood is a huge passion of mine and founding The Mums Clique with a focus on giving back and empowering mothers is a vision that is so close to my heart.

What is your top tip to manage 4 children and make sure all of them get enough attention?

Honestly, I don’t really know how I do it. You just do. We went from one child for the first five years and jumped straight to three with the twins. The first six months of the twins life was a massive blur of breastfeeding and sleep deprivation but we adjusted. Then when I fell pregnant with Faith when the twins were only nine months old we knew we were in for a whirlwind of a time. There is never a dull moment in our house. I just embrace the crazy. There is loads of laughter and fun in our home, and that’s the way it should be. I am very well organised and between myself and my husband we seem to keep on top of everything. He is pretty great, I am super lucky he is such a fantastic husband and father…. I think a huge part of our success is teamwork and having each other’s back even when the times are tough.

Why do you choose Only Organic?

We are pretty fussy with what we feed our kids. We grow most of our own food and label read everything. But sometimes you just need convenience and when it comes to our kids that was hard … until we found Only Organic. We love the care taken by the brand to ensure good ingredients, no added sugars or nasties. You can tell they really care about their product and the kids cant get enough so that’s always a good sign!

What's the #1 feeding tip ?

Encourage your kids to eat real food. Every fruit and vegetable imaginable including spices and different flavours. Don’t be afraid to encourage them to eat greens. And set a good example. If they see you eating it, they are way more likely to eat it as well. My 2-year-old twins eat spinach and lettuce straight from our vegetable garden. I love that they watch us plant it, then watch it grow, then pick it off and eat it. Getting your kids involved with the process of growing, preparing or cooking food is super important.

What's your favourite thing about being a mum?

The kisses and cuddles. Definitely. I love all the cuddles. I still scoop up my 8-year-old and squeeze her so tight (she is getting so big though that won’t be happening for much longer!). The love I have for my babies is out of this world.

Any advice to other mums to be?

  1. Trust your instincts.

  2. You can never love your kids too much.

  3. A bad day is just one day, tomorrow is a new day.

  4. Make time for yourself, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

  5. Soak up every single moment, they grow up way too fast.
